We specialize in providing effective administrative systems that help, not hinder, management. Our President, Jim Whitaker, has over thirty years experience in developing administrative systems. He has "hands-on" experience as a controller and manager of many types of businesses. He has supplemented this experience with Master and Ph.D. level education in both Business Administration and Computer Science.

Arachne Business Systems has been providing PC based accounting systems to our customers since 1989. Initially, we sold and supported only the Real World Corporations line of software. As we grew we realized that we could better serve our customers by offering a broader line of products. By offering many different product lines we could truly act as consultants to our customers and help them choose the system best suited to their unique needs.

We began our search for new products by establishing some business criteria for the products we were to add to our line. We reviewed only systems that are nationally and internationally supported. We reviewed systems that are nationally recognized and highly rated by the various professional accounting organizations. We looked for systems that have a long record of customer service and satisfaction. We also looked for companies that were committed to ongoing development of the products especially in the e-commerce area and ease of communicating with other applications such as Microsoft Office or Customer Relationship Management systems.

We looked for systems that provide the opportunity to expand beyond the traditional bookkeeping functions to greatly enhanced management control capacities. We feel that the "accounting system" should not be a burden on management but an active partner in the operation of the company. We could see that our industry, as every other industry, was headed into a period of consolidation with the leaders buying up or merging with the smaller companies. As a result of our review we chose to concentrate on products provided by Microsoft and Sage Software because we felt that they would remain standing at the end of this period of consolidation and that they provided products that meet our criteria. Thus far, our choices have been sound and these two entities remain as the industry leaders. We have added many vertical systems to supplement the offerings from the major publishers. These systems are carefully scrutinized to ensure that they meet the standards that we established for the basic systems.
